Orrell Water Park is a two water fishing venue set close to Gathurst Station and not too far away from Junction 26 of the M6
The water is currently ‘run’ by Wigan Council but it seems they have, as a local told me ‘left it alone for sometime’. Baliffs haven’t been seen for a while and it seems this is a free fishing venue at the moment.
With two waters joining each other with a sluice the venue has hard standing pegs all the way round wide enough for a bivvy or bivvy brolly. Currently the sign states no night fishing however I have been told it can be fished at night, all the same the sign also says the gate is locked at 9pm, I believe this rarely happens.
It’s a quite attractive water well established with good cover of thick trees around to help keep the wind off.
Species are relative unknown however I have been told that it contains carp plus 20lb and the usual array of skimmers, roach and perch.
If you do see the baliff a day ticket is £5
