Rowley Lake is a large 7 acre body of water on the outskirts of Burnley. Set in a beautiful and natural setting, featuring some varied mixed coarse fish, it’s hard to believe this tranquil oasis is situated so close to the busy town of Burnley and the Industrial East Lancashire area.
Rowley Lake is watched over by Pendle, Burnley and District Angling Association, who also look after a number of other waters in the area, thankfully unlike many angling associations they allow day ticket access to their waters costing only £5 per ticket (payable on the bank)
With such a large water many may think fishing is tough but Rowley Lake contains a large head of fish of all varieties. As the lake sits on the River Brun you can often catch some fish that are often associated with rivers than standard course fisheries such as Eel and the odd Chub
Officially the fishery is stocked with the following varieties –
- Bream Skimmers many in the region of 7lb
- Carp including quite few mid doubles and a 27lb carp that hasn’t been caught in years
- Roach – of all sizes from 6oz – 2lb
- Tench
- Perch – Some good Perch up to a reported 3lb
- Pike – a number of jacks and a few fish to 20lb
Fishing on Rowley Lake is from Dawn until Dusk, however night fishing is permitted to members with a night fishing membership.
