Described as one of West Lancashire’s hidden secrets, Platts Lane Fishing Lake, Burscough provides a true fishing experience for all the family.  With a main lake for anglers to sit peacefully coarse fishing, or for children with nets in the nearby pond.

With reeds and flower meadows alike Platts Lane is a haven for wildlife of all kinds, from frogs and dragonflies to Owls, Kestrels and small mammals.

The main lake is well stocked with all the usual coarse fishing species so a sure fire winner for pleasure anglers such as myself.  For those who prefer not to fish the Monet Garden designed by a local schoolgirl has a picnic area, wildlife pond and benches.

All fishing pegs are very substantial and well maintained.  Disabled access is reasonable with only some unmade surfaces

To my knowledge this water is owned by West Lancashire Council but run by Burscough and District Angling Club.  A day ticket as of April 2017 is £4 for adults and £2 for juniors.  The price is per rod up to a maximum of 2 rods.   Although this listing suggests no night fishing an old sign says by permit holder only.

To get to the water, drive up Platts Lane go over the bridge and you’ll find the water a short walk down a path on the left hand side.

Please keep in mind when visiting Platts Lane Lake, most other listings provide the address Chapel Lane, from my experience the main entrance is most certainly at the end of Platts Lane, L40 7TE.
